LPG is a blanket term for two types of natural gas (Propane and Butane) and is a natural by-product of gas and oil extraction (66%) and oil refining (34%). It’s an exceptional and efficient source of energy, that would otherwise go to waste if not captured – and has become a vital part of the UK’s off-grid energy mix.
The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has hiked the price of 14.2 kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders by Rs25 each in metro cities. Starting March 01, 2021, a 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinder is available at Rs819 each in Delhi and Mumbai from the previous month’s Rs794 per cylinder each.
ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan on Friday cut liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices by Rs5. 9/kg for January 2022, fixing the domestic gas cylinder price at Rs2,320.81 to be effective from Saturday (today). LPG price has been reduced by Rs5. 9/kg to Rs196.
LPG is composed of hydrocarbons containing three or four carbon atoms. The normal components of LPG thus, are propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10). Small concentrations of other hydrocarbons may also be present. LPG burns readily in the air and has an energy content similar to petrol and twice the heat energy of natural gas.
